Morning Weight – 168lbs

Workout

  • Legs and Shoulders
  • Squats 6 x10,8,5,5,5,10
  • Shoulder Press 5 x10-5
  • Goblet Squat 4 sets of 10 reps
  • Lateral Raise 4 sets of 10 reps
  • Reverse Band pull apart 3 sets of 10 reps
  • Weighted frog situps 3 sets of 8 reps

This was my first workout on my new Leangains split. I haven’t done Squats in awhile, but my strength was on par with where it was before I stopped.  My leg endurance was down though and I got tired a lot faster.  My max was 215 for 5 reps.  For Shoulder Press (dumbbells) used the 55’s in each hand for a total of 5 reps.  Finished with some accessory exercises.

Epic Post workout feast after lifting.  On Leangains I basically eat all my carbs from after my workout until dinner.  I got in about 300 grams yesterday.  My meal directly after lifting was 3 packets of weight control oatmeal, 1 scoop of protein powder, 2% milk, blueberries, banana, sugar free pancake syrup and pretzel sticks.  I think the total came in around 800 calories. For dinner, I had a ton of potatoes and special K cracker chips.

Journal

I read Matt Stone’s: 12 Paleo Myths yesterday, which was a very interesting read. Basically showed the negatives of long term carb restriction and how some people were greatly affected by taking them out of the diet, even on a relatively healthy diet.
